Chong Produce (NDCA) 2017

When the government seized $250,000 from a client’s bank accounts and threatened Structured Financial Transaction (structuring) charges, Randy Sue Pollock successfully persuaded prosecutors not to file criminal charges. A civil forfeiture agreement was reached instead — and in 2017, Ms. Pollock went further, leveraging a new U.S. Treasury policy to recover the full $250,000 for her client. This case illustrates Ms. Pollock’s persistence in protecting clients’ assets long after the initial resolution.

Structuring means filing just less than $10,000 which requires a currency transaction report (CTR) to be filed with the IRS. Some people try to avoid (CTRs) by depositing $9,000.
